Purpose

The purpose of RTD aSAP is to evaluate employees who have violated a DOT or non-DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and to make recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare, while providing guidance to companies in the area of drug and alcohol education.

Overview of the
Return-to-Duty (RTD) Process

Meet with a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) for a thorough face-to-face assessment

The SAP will

  • Recommend a required plan of treatment and/or education

  • Send a detailed report to your employer regarding the recommended plan

  • Monitor your progress throughout plan completion

  • Conduct a face-to-face follow-up evaluation to verify the successful completion of treatment

  • Provide your employer with a follow-up drug and/or alcohol testing plan for the employee

  • Provide both the employee and employer with recommendations for continuing education and/or treatment
